Schwinn x Captain Kangaroo Collaboration

Schwinn collaborated with Captain Kangaroo for over 25 years! Schwinn bicycles first appeared on the Captain Kangaroo Show in 1958, and each week Mr. Green Jeans would bring out a featured model. By 1963 a poll showed 2/3rds of Schwinn dealers could directly trace sales to the Captain Kangaroo Show. In one example of the effectiveness of the sponsorship, in an episode viewers were told to submit postcards for a chance to win a bike and the brand received over 300,000 post cards. To put this in perspective, a full year of advertising for Schwinn during the same period in Dell comic books only generated 35,000 responses. Who knew Captain Kangaroo was so gangsta…
