1960’s London By Robust Flavor

In the 1960s London was youth-oriented, new and modern. It was a period of optimism and hedonism, best described as a cultural revolution. One of the causes was the recovery of the British economy after the post-World War II period that lasted through much of the 1950s. The fashion was a driver of the culture. From the ideas of Mary Quant to iconic model Twiggy to miniskirts and mod style, fashion gave birth to the hip hangout areas of Carnaby Street and Chelsea’s Kings Road. The British flag, the Union Jack, became a visible symbol, aided by events such as England’s home victory in the 1966 World Cup. The revered car of the day was the Mini-Cooper.
