Interview With Snowboarder Louie Vito

RF: Where did you grow up?
I grew up outside Columbus, Ohio and then went to Stratton Mountain School for high school.
RF: When did you first get into snowboarding?
Louie: There is a small resort called Mad River Mountain that is about 5 mins from my house where I started skiing. My Dad and I saw snowboarding one day and wanted to check it out and have been down for it ever since.
RF: What was your first set-up?
Louie: Burton 111. I think that was the smallest board they made at the time.
RF: What was the scene like back then?
Louie: Most of the kids I would hang out with riding when I was like 7 were all in their 20s or older.
RF: What was the first video you were ever in?
Louie: I had one shot that Jeffy Anderson Shot in Volcom’s Big Youth Happening, and then my first part was Mongo Productions’ The Constant Struggle.
RF: Which sponsors have you had throughout your career:
Louie: I started out riding for Sims and then rode Burton for a little and Forum and now I’m on O-Matic. I rode for smith for most of my career but recently made the switch to Spy. Now I’m riding for O-Matic, Monster, Nike, Spy, Volcom, Kicker, Grenade, Vestal, Boost, Neff, Skullcandy, and Utility Boardshop.
RF: Where in the world has your career taken you?
Louie: Europe, Asia, Oz, NZ, Canada, and all over the US.
RF: Most memorable traveling memories?
Louie: Just overseas trips with all your homies, partyin’, snowboarding, and just cruising.
RF: What music are you listening to these days?
Louie: Rap, that is mostly all I listen to
RF: Favorite movies?
Louie: Scarface, Belly, Man On Fire.
RF: What else do you do for fun?
Louie: I like to chill, skateboard, and tryin’ to surf a bit. Really in the summer i just like to relax.
RF: Describe a typical day:
Louie: Wake up, eat, snowboard, chill on the computer, deal with emails and travel stuff, maybe skate, hang wit the homies. In the I like to sleep in and take the day as it comes
RF: What is next for 2008?
Louie: Contests, and trying to film more…get better at sleddin’ and riding pow.
